MaraTech Innovation & Safety Centre
Playing a key role within the Lolgorian Artisanal Gold Mining Community, MaraTech has proven to be an essential partner. The Centre has designed and printed membership ID cards for the miners and has aided in crafting and coordinating vital mining-partnership/investment agreements. Beyond paperwork, MaraTech extends its aid to facilitate access to life-saving safety gear, partnering with distributors in major cities like Nairobi.

Recognizing a surge in membership and the escalating demand for affordable safety equipment, MaraTech rose to the occasion by launching a business to distribute this gear. Their catalog is impressive and diverse, offering everything from helmets and goggles to full-body suits and respirators. Their reach spans beyond local communities, providing protective equipment to miners in Migori, Kakamega, Turkana, Siaya Counties and the Mubende region gold mines in Uganda.
At the intersection of technology and safety, MaraTech also ignites a spark of knowledge and creativity in the youth. By offering training in basic computer skills and animation video creation, the Centre equips young minds to promote safety awareness in the mining sector and advocate for gold recovery methods free from toxic chemicals. Already, 32 young minds are continuing the mission of MaraTech, spreading vital safety education among their peers.

Partnering with organizations like the UNDP through a program called PlanetGold-Kenya, MaraTech continues to broaden its impact. Their joined forces aim to reduce the use of mercury in the artisanal mining sector. The Centre's significant contributions to the artisanal mining sector do not go unnoticed, as it continues to forge partnerships locally and internationally. Our organization, Artisanal Mining Advocates, alongside Farmers of Gold ASGM, proudly supports MaraTech's groundbreaking initiatives as it is the first-of-its-kind safety gear shop tailored specifically for gold miners in Kenya.
Peering into the future, MaraTech envisions a growth trajectory that encompasses the expansion of its safety gear distribution business and the establishment of retail centers in mining counties of Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. This growth also includes the allure of setting up the first gold processing/purification plant in Lolgorian to serve over 5,000 artisanal gold miners. This is a call to potential investors and business partners to join MaraTech on its mission to revolutionize the artisanal gold mining sector with safety, innovation, and inclusion at its core.
In essence, MaraTech Innovation & Safety Centre is more than an organization—it's a lifeline, a catalyst for change, and an unwavering advocate for safety within Africa's Artisan Small Scale Gold Mining communities.
