Our Partner: Gifted Farm Enterprises
We, at the Artisanal Mining Advocates (AMA), take pride in working with a diverse group of stakeholders who are equally passionate about improving the artisanal mining sector.
One such cherished partnership we uphold is with Gifted Farm Enterprises, led by the diligent and dedicated Solomon Opiyo from Migori County.

Bridging the Mining and Agriculture Gap
Gifted Farm Enterprises stands as a unique initiative that pioneers the intersection of mining and agriculture.
Their approach, in essence, provides an innovative solution to address critical issues prevalent within these sectors.
Advocating Health and Safety
Gifted Farm Enterprises remains committed to the health and safety of miners.
Their dedication is evident in their rigorous research on health hazards associated with mercury use, silica dust poisoning, cyanide use, and cyanide waste disposal.
They're also actively involved in designing safer mining sites and ensuring the implementation of these designs.
Collaboration in the GDA Project
Our collaborative work on the GDA project exemplifies our shared commitment to improving mining practices. The GDA project focuses on investigating the efficiency and composition of a Chinese reagent, with an aim to find safer and more effective alternatives to cyanide and mercury in mining.
We've jointly worked on developing training manuals on the safe use of mercury and cyanide, as well as on preventing silica dust poisoning. In addition, Gifted Farm Enterprises recommends personal protective equipment, such as masks, for drillers and ball mill operators, and is currently developing more such training manuals for the betterment of miners.
Harnessing the Power of AI
Leveraging advanced technology, Gifted Farm Enterprises, with guidance from AMA, is exploring AI applications to deepen their knowledge and enhance operational efficiency in the mining sector. Such tools are invaluable in addressing artisanal and small-scale mining (ASGM) issues and improving security measures.

Addressing the Cyanide Tailings
Issue We're united in our mission to find sustainable solutions for cyanide tailings, which pose significant risks to both human and animal health, and to the environment. As part of our collaborative efforts, we've dispatched soil samples to a US-based company for analysis, with the hope of repurposing these tailings for the community's benefit.
AMA cherishes this partnership with Gifted Farm Enterprises, a testament to our shared vision for a safer, healthier, and more prosperous artisanal mining community. We look forward to continued collaboration, addressing more challenges, and fostering a brighter future for artisanal mining.
