ABOUT FECOMICO
Gathered for a common cause and driven by the same desire to contribute to the promotion and protection of the fundamental rights of artisanal miners carrying out their activities in the mining sites located in the provinces of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Given the precarious situation in which artisanal miners live and maintained by malicious people, holders of power and capital, who intervene in the chain of production and marketing of artisanally mined minerals;
Concerned about the emergence of mining governance that improves the socio-economic situation of artisanal miners, communities affected by mining and that contributes to the development of entities; where the minerals are mined;
Given that the improvement of the living conditions of artisanal miners and the protection of their fundamental rights requires their mobilization within the framework of a synergy of actions capable of providing comprehensive and satisfactory responses;
We founding members gathered to date of June 30, 2018, create the FEDERATION OF MINING COOPERATIVES IN CONGO , in Acronym FECOMICO in order to contribute widely and effectively to the integral well-being of artisanal miners working on mining sites in different provinces of the Republic . Democratic Congo.
OF CREATION
The Federation of Mining Cooperatives of Congo contributes to the improvement of the socio-economic and professional living conditions of artisanal miners united in mining cooperatives.
FECOMICO has its head office in Bukavu, in the Province of South Kivu, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
By decision of the majority of the members sitting in the ordinary general meeting, its seat may be transferred to another place within its radius of action. By decision of the Board of Directors, it can create liaison offices in other provinces of the Democratic Republic of Congo and even branch offices in the territories or localities where the mining sites of its members are located.
RANGE OF ACTION, OBJECTIVES AND DURATION OF FECOMICO
The radius of action of FECOMICO extends in the provinces of the Democratic Republic of Congo where there is the presence of artisanal mining diggers exploiting the minerals in the artisanal mining zones created by the National Minister of Mines. LA FECOMICO is created for an indefinite period. It is apolitical and non-denominational.
FECOMICO pursues the following objectives:

Contribute to the promotion and protection of the fundamental rights of artisanal miners working in mining cooperatives, members of FECOMICO.

Facilitate the access of mining cooperatives to mining rights

Improve the governance of mining cooperatives by building the capacities of their members.

Promote traceability in the marketing process of minerals produced by mining cooperatives by implementing the mechanisms advocated by the OECD and CIRGEL within the framework of due diligence.

Seek financial and technical partners in favor of mining cooperatives in order to make them more viable and competitive on the market and to be able to reduce unemployment, a source of insecurity within communities affected by mining activities.

Facilitate the sanitation of mining sites by fighting against the presence of children, the eradication of endemic and epidemic diseases, by improving the quality of hygiene and accessibility to drinking water.

Promote environmental protection on mining sites by facilitating the participation of mining cooperatives in environmental impact studies, in the adoption of environmental codes of conduct initiated and environmental rehabilitation mechanisms initiated by the federation.

Ensure the execution of specifications in favor of communities affected by mining activities.

Ensure the promotion and protection of the fundamental rights of women working in mines;

Arbitrate conflicts between mining cooperatives in artisanal mining areas.
