ASMAK
Artisanal and Small Scale Mining Association of Kenya (ASMAK)
is the hub of artisanal and small-scale mining in Kenya! Founded in January
2023, the Artisanal and Small Scale Mining Association of Kenya (ASMAK) is a pioneering,
non-profit, and non-political organization dedicated to elevating artisanal and small-scale
mining across the nation.
Boasting a diverse representation of four counties and soon-to-be expanding to 14,
ASMAK unites the multitude of voices within Kenya's artisanal and small-scale mining
sector. With a board comprising 12 passionate members, each region contributes three
representatives, ensuring every miner's story is heard, and every county's potential is
harnessed.
Chaired by Dan Odida, a respected figure in the mining sector hailing from Mcgory, Kenya,
ASMAK has taken substantial strides towards creating a standardized, sustainable, and
safe mining environment.
We are proud to collaborate with esteemed organizations such as the Kenya Chambers of
Mines, Solidaridad, Planet Gold, and artisanal mining advocates. Together, we aim to
construct an empowering platform for the mining community.
Driven by our commitment to champion the cause of artisanal and small-scale miners, we
tirelessly work to sensitize mining communities about relevant laws, regulations, and
mining sector procedures. A significant part of our mission includes promoting safety and
environmental awareness through programs focused on land rehabilitation of abandoned
mine-sites.
ASMAK has the vision to build a network of branches across the country, working to
develop standardized systems and templates for use by all member groups.
