WhO WE AREÂ
We are the GCMF, a Global Community Miners Platform – a global coalition of artisanal and small-scale mining leaders. As miners, we collaborate on a unified platform to share experiences, improve practices, and advance our industry. We strive for gender equality, child education, and better community living conditions amidst environmental and health challenges.
Our platform promotes health, safety, and financial well-being, and facilitates an exchange of practical knowledge. We work with governments and large-scale mining operations to formalize and harmonize ASM practices, ensuring a sustainable, prosperous future for our communities and industry.
Join us as we transform artisanal and small-scale mining, (community mining), promoting safer practices and fostering welfare, one miner at a time. Witness a new chapter in mining, where practical solutions, mutual growth, and lasting change are within reach.
Our Mission

List Title
Artisanal and small-scale miners are responsible for producing 20 percent of the world’s gold each year. Due to limited economic opportunities or a lack of awareness about the dangers, many of these small-scale mining operations use the highly toxic chemical mercury to extract their gold, making this sector the largest source of mercury pollution in the world. This 3,000-year-old method for processing gold is leading to grievous environmental and health consequences.
